Getting Over a Hangover – The Natural Way

A night out drinking with friends can be loads of fun, until of course the next day when you wake up and you’re not feeling that great. If you didn't take the proper precautions to limit your hangover before and while drinking, then you might be in for a little roller-coaster ride. However you can use a variety of methods to combat the headaches and nausea caused from the excessive drinking from the night before. 

Getting Over a Hangover

Drink Lots of Water - The first vital step to recover from your hangover is to re-hydrate your body. Drink lots of water but water at room temperature; not too cold, nor too hot. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice in your water as lemon helps soothe your stomach and also contains vitamin C which will help you regain some of your lost energy.

Eat a Chicken Omelette - Even though you might not feel like eating some food, you must try and force yourself to have something to eat.  The best option in this case is to eat an omelette with some boneless skinless chicken breast if possible. Eggs and chicken are rich with protein which can replenish your weak and aching body with the nutrition it needs.

Have a Banana Milkshake - If you feel that your stomach can’t take any cooked food then the best alternative is to have a banana. Better still, is to have a banana milkshake mixed with some honey. The banana calms the stomach and with the help of honey, will build up depleted sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Stay Away From The Coffee Machine – And I don’t mean that you might get burnt (although that might be a possibility if you have a splitting headache and you’re not quite yourself). Caffeine will only dehydrate you more and since it is diuretic, it will not help your stomach.  

Have an Epsom Salt Bath – Having an Epsom salt bath is an easy way to reduce the symptoms of a hangover, especially headaches. Epsom salt helps relax swollen blood vessels and can draw toxins out of the skin. Just empty a few cups of Epsom salt into a warm bath and relax for at least 15-20 minutes. This hangover therapy can also have a soothing effect on bloating or pressure in the head.

Get Some Sleep – Finally, if you have the luxury of doing all or some of the above methods, and then have the time to get some sleep, then go ahead and do it. Before you hit your pillow, have another glass of water to hydrate your body; you can never have too much water.

The above have been known to help treat hangovers but every method works differently for everyone, and you may discover your own method to help you overcome your hangovers. If there seems to be a more serious problem after you have consumed alcohol, then it is best you see your doctor for advice.
